Common Hearing Aid Problems — and Solutions

Feedback (whistling) usually occurs when sound leaks back to the microphone. Common causes include an ill-fitting earmold or dome, excessive earwax buildup, or a crack in the tubing. Bring your device in and we can diagnose the cause quickly.

Weak sound is most often caused by a clogged earwax filter or dome, a dead or dying battery, moisture in the device, or a failing receiver. We can clean the device, replace worn parts, and test its output to restore performance.

First, check that the battery is fresh and the battery door is fully closed. If the device still does not work, moisture damage or a failed internal component may be the cause. Bring it in for an evaluation — many completely dead devices can be revived with professional servicing.

If a repair requires factory service, we handle the entire process for you. We ship your device to the manufacturer on your behalf and coordinate the repair. We can also provide loaner hearing aids while yours are being serviced so you are never without amplification.

Warranty & Out-of-Warranty Repairs

Most new hearing aids come with a manufacturer's warranty that covers repairs and loss for 1–3 years. We will check your warranty status and help you understand your coverage before any repair work begins.

For out-of-warranty repairs, we will provide a clear cost estimate before proceeding. In some cases, upgrading to a new device may be more economical than repairing an older one — and we will give you an honest recommendation either way.
